“Where You Will Always Find a Game.”
Emerald Greens is much more than the golf course, its programs, its regular tournaments, and its facilities. Golf at Emerald Greens is about what golf is supposed to be about—relaxation and making new friends. Whether you're a scratch player with an impressive amateur resume or a senior who is totally new to golf, you will enjoy Emerald Greens and, most of all, always find a game.

Whether you're a golfer looking for a club in the Tampa area or a golfer looking for a golf vacation destination for you and your friends, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better choice on the Gulf Coast than Emerald Greens.

This may sound like a somewhat controversial statement (and you may well be making a mental list of clubs and courses in western Florida with bigger reputations…), BUT...when you look at everything the club and resort has to offer, then add the friendliness of the members, Emerald Greens is difficult to beat. Emerald Greens is quietly one of the most convenient, friendliest, and most enjoyable golf destinations - not just in the Tampa area, but on the Golf Coast.

Here's why…

A Brand-New Golf Course with 27 Holes—A Course that's Never Congested

The new management at the club totally redesigned and rebuilt all 27 holes at Emerald Greens in the last three years. So you get a modern golf course in excellent condition with plenty of variety that's usually un-clogged. Let's say we have a junior tournament taking place - it will take up nine holes leaving 18 holes for members and resort guests. Even if we have an outing that takes up 18 holes, we have nine holes available—so there's always room for golf.

Each nine at Emerald Greens is strong. There's a big debate at Emerald Greens about which 18 of the 27 holes to enjoy. Some members prefer the Pine nine; others like the Cypress; others like the Meadow nine. To view our course photo gallery,

Dan Maples, a Pinehurst-Based Golf Course Architect, Produced a Superb Layout.

Dan Maples, based in Pinehurst, North Carolina, designed all three nines at Emerald Greens. His is the son of Ellis Maples, a prolific golf course architect in his own right who worked with Donald Ross. Maples has designed golf courses in the Carolinas and throughout the world and brought Pinehurst-style design to Emerald Greens.

From the back tees, each par-36 nine will challenge the best golfers in any club. From the white tees, all three nines provide a solid challenge and lots of fun for our regular members. Seniors and most of our junior and lady members enjoy the course from the Silver, Teal, and Red tees.

We're in Florida, so there's plenty of water on the golf course—water comes into play on 20 of the 27 holes, so, while length off the tee is not vital at Emerald Greens, each hole places an emphasis on strategy and accuracy. That's especially the case on the finishing hole of the Pine nine, a 490 yard par-5 from the white tees with an island green; it's a tempting hole.

“I again want to thank you and your staff for the hospitality, courtesies and attention extended to me during my stay last weekend. The courses were great...suffice it to say that I will definitely be back.”
- James D. of Pittsburgh, PA, Guest of Resort

Even though Emerald Greens is close to Dale Mabry Highway and numerous local attractions, it's a peaceful course that rolls through Pine and Cypress trees. The greens are mostly large and undulating; the greens on the Meadow nine are slightly smaller. In addition to the numerous water hazards, the course is well-bunkered with smaller pot bunkers as well as large waste bunkers—the perfect example coming on the first hole of the Cypress nine.

The best par-5 at Emerald Greens is that ninth on the Pine nine. Strong golfers can reach the green in two shots but laying up to leave a wedge into the green can more often produce a birdie. When you play the hole, remember that the Emerald Room in the clubhouse has a view of the island green so make sure you smile and wave as you sink that birdie or eagle putt.

The best par three at Emerald Greens is the 7th on the Meadow nine. It's 158 yards from the white tees and requires a forced carry over water and a bunker; it's a beautiful hole and the undulating green can make for some interesting hole locations.

On the Cypress nine, a par on the fourth hole, a 450 yard par-4, is a significant achievement. Off the tee, you'll need to avoid the water but giving the hazard too much width leaves a difficult second shot to the narrow and elevated green.
